2012 Scholarships Announcement:
Scholarship season begins on January 1st, 2012. See below for all requirements and for the scholarship application. DEADLINE for submitting your application: Friday, March 16th, 2012. In order to apply for any of the below scholarships, it is required that the ACSPP Member must have been a member in good standing for at least 1 year before submitting their application.
2011 Scholarships in review:
College Scholarship were reviewed by the Foundation's Board of Trustees at their regular meeting on April 21, 2011. We are proud to announce that there were 30 of the $1,000 General College Scholarships awarded and 3 of the Lyle Wohlers Scholarships for $2,000.
TYPES OF SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE.The General Tuition Scholarship is available to full or part-time students and is to be applied against the cost for tuition, books and fees to a college or trade school of the recipient's choice. The Lyle F. Wohlers Scholarship is available to full-time students pursuing a Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement related degree. Read the guidelines for eligibility and how to apply for this scholarship.
The Fallen Officer's Fund is for dependent children and spouses of Officers killed in the line of duty. Read the guidelines for eligibility and how to apply for this scholarship.
General Tuition Scholarship Fund
Eligibility
All applicants must be a regular member of the Association of Colorado State Patrol Professionals (ACSPP), or the spouse or dependent child of a regular member of the ACSPP (must have been a member in good standing as of the date of application).
Dependent child is one between the ages of seventeen (17) and twenty-three (23). A regular member shall be as defined in the current bylaws of the ACSPP.
All applicants must provide written documentation of their acceptance by an educational institution prior to receiving any scholarship funds.
All eligible persons wishing to receive consideration for a scholarship, must apply for a scholarship by completing the application form, submitting all required documentation, submitting a personal essay with no less than one thousand (1,000) words, complete at least eight (8) hours of community service, and abiding by all applicable rules, as established by the Board of Trustees of the Colorado State Patrol Family Foundation (CSPFF). The essay much accompany the application and the community service must be completed before a check will be awarded.
All scholarships shall be awarded in one-year increments. Eligibility for any subsequent scholarship must be determined each year through reapplication and review by the CSPFF Board of Trustees and staff.
Benefit
Each approved applicant shall receive a scholarship to be applied against the cost for tuition, books and fees to a college or trade school of the recipient's choice. Funding for this scholarship shall not exceed the current rate for in-state tuition for students in Colorado attending colleges and/or trade schools.Scholarship assistance shall be awarded:
a. For no longer than six (6) years for fulltime studies;
b. For no longer than eight (8) years for part-time studies.
All funds awarded by CSPFF shall be issued jointly to the recipient and their chosen educational institution.
Qualifications of Benefit
Dependent children must be full-time students and begin college or trade school between the ages of seventeen (17) and twenty-three (23). To be considered a full-time student, the individual must take at least twelve (12) credit hours per semester. Dependent children must obtain a bachelor's degree within six (6) years of their first enrollment in a college or within three (3) years of their first enrollment in an associates degree program or trade school. There are no limitations on the area of study to be selected.Spouses may be either a full-time or part-time student. Spouses attending school full time will have six (6) years after their first enrollment to obtain a bachelor's degree or three (3) years after their first enrollment to complete an associates degree or trade school. To be considered a full time student, the individual must take at least twelve (12) credit hours per semester. Spouses attending school part-time, who are taking less than 12 credit hours per semester, shall have eight (8) years after their first enrollment to obtain their degree or complete trade school. To be considered a part-time student, the spouse must take at least six (6) credit hours per semester. There are no limitations on the area of study to be selected.
All recipients must maintain a grade point average of 2.0 and remain academically eligible during the time they are on a scholarship.
Recipient Responsibilities
All scholarship recipients must provide official transcripts to the CSPFF Board of Trustees from the college or trade school they attend, at the end of each semester for which they have received scholarship funds.
A no less than one thousand (1000) word essay must accompany the Scholarhip Application to be considered for an award. The quality of the essay will be part of the selection process.
All scholarship recipients must donate eight (8) hours of community service to an approved nonprofit organization for each year they receive a scholarship. Recipients must provide written documentation that community service has been completed by the end of the calendar year in which the scholarship was awarded. Failure to do so will disqualify the recipient for future scholarhips and they are still expected to complete the community service.

Lyle F. Wohlers Scholarship Fund
Eligibility
An applicant must be a regular Member of the ACSPP or the dependent child of a regular member as regular member is defined in the bylaws of the Association of Colorado State Patrol Professionals (must have been a member in good standing as of the date of application).All applicants must provide proof of acceptance by an educational institution.
All applicants must follow the process outlined in the application for financial assistance from this program.
Benefit
Up to $3,000 per year will be awarded toward tuition and/or expenses at the college of the recipient's choice for those pursuing a criminal justice or law enforcement degree..Once funds are awarded, they will be deposited with the recipient's educational institution to be credited toward tuition or expenses.
Qualifications for benefit
The recipient must pursue a criminal justice or law enforcement related degree. The recipient must graduate within six (6) years of his or her first enrollment in a bachelor's degree program or within three (3) years of the recipient's first enrollment in an associate's degree program.The recipient must take at least twelve (12) credit hours per semester (full time student).
The recipient must maintain a grade point average of 2.0 and remain academically eligible while on a scholarship.

Fallen Officer's Fund
Eligibility
Spouses and dependent children of deceased regular members, as defined in the by laws of the Association of Colorado State Patrol Professionals, killed in the line of duty are eligible to receive a scholarship.
Benefit
Provided towards tuition and/or expenses at the college or trade school of the dependent child or spouse’s choice for six (6) years. Yearly benefit amount is equal to current in-state tution rates plus funds for room, board, books and other CSPFF Board of Trustees approved expenses.
Qualifications for Benefit
Dependent children or spouse must attend a college or trade school.
Dependent children must start college or trade school between the ages of seventeen (17) and twenty-three (23).
Dependent children must obtain a Bachelor’s degree within six (6) years or an Associates degree within three (3) years or complete the trade vocation within the schools prescribed timeframe. There are no specifications on the area of study. Dependent children must take at least twelve (12) credit hours per semester. A grade point average of 2.0 must be maintained for each semester.
Spouses attending school part-time will have eight (8) years to obtain their degree or complete the trade vocation requirements. There are no specifications on the area of study. Spouses must take at least six (6) credit hours per semester. There are no specifications on the area of study. A grade point average of 2.0 must be maintained for each semester.
