DID YOU KNOW?
Colorado State Troopers risk their lives every day to keep Colorado safe for all of us. Their sacrifice is especially significant as the risk to their well-being continues to grow. Anti-police sentiment trends, coupled with physical danger, stress, pandemic fatigue and mental burnout, can take its toll on even the most resilient individuals. Now more than ever, Troopers need your support!
tournament location
Congratulations on being one of only 30 foursomes, on July 30, 2024, to experience this rare opportunity to play at Sanctuary Golf Course. Sanctuary is played exclusively by invitation only or through one of the approximately 25 charity events hosted on site annually. It is known for its elevated tees, towering pines and 180-degree mountain views encompassing Pikes Peak to the South and Longs Peak to the North. Because of the dramatic terrain, a foursome typically feels the entire course is theirs - even when play is at capacity. Five sets of tees invite every level of player.

Play is a modified scramble: Each player hits a drive, the best one is selected and then each player plays their own ball to completion; the two lowest scores are added for the foursome team score. There will be prizes for the male and female longest drives, closest to the pin and longest putt contests.
Dress is casual.
* Prior to play, a putting contest with prizes will be held. *At the completion of play, an awards banquet with live and silent auctions will occur inside the clubhouse.
It is highly encouraged (and deeply appreciated) for players to stay for post-play festivities. It is a special (and delicious) opportunity to learn more about how your support of the 27th Annual Colonel’s Challenge Charity Golf Tournament positively impacts those who help keep our roads and our communities safe.
the why
Throughout the past quarter-century, the tournament has generated over $2.1 million. Originally, the Colonel’s Challenge was started as a way to raise money for the spouses and children of Troopers who had died in the line of duty. Today, all funds raised continue to assist the families of fallen officers, and now also supplement a multitude of other opportunities for Troopers, such as:
Providing them with financial support during difficult times
Underwriting their costs for access to cutting-edge mental health services
Offering higher education scholarships to qualifying CSP Association members and their families.
Tournament proceeds benefit the Colorado State Patrol Family Foundation, which directly supports the mission and efforts of CSP.
The Foundation’s Hardship Fund is a great example of your generosity at work. Monies in this fund are used to award grants to Troopers and their families who find themselves in a financial crisis beyond their control and are in dire need of assistance. Last year, thirty-eight CSP families were awarded a total of $200,000 from the Hardship Fund. Historically, the number of grant requests has steadily increased each year. 2023 is on track to prove to be no exception.
are you aware?
In addition to supporting the Colonel’s Challenge as a golfer on one of the most beautiful courses in the world, there are other ways that you can help Troopers, as well as pay tribute to the thirty CSP heroes who, since 1941, have died in the line of duty. Some of the ways include:
By investing in a Platinum, Gold, Silver, Player Awards, or Hole Sponsorship
By making a financial contribution in any amount to the Foundation
By supporting the post-tournament live and silent auctions as an item donor, bidder or both
By telling your family, friends, colleagues - basically all of your contacts - about the Colonel’s Challenge and inviting them to participate
By asking your contacts to please share tournament information with any avid golfers (who will already know what a rare an opportunity it is to golf at Sanctuary) or to share with the companies and businesses they frequent, who may be interested in the exposure to new or targeted audiences that accompanies sponsorships and auction donations.
The Colorado State Patrol Family Foundation Board of Trustees and Colonel Matthew Packard, Chief of the Colorado State Patrol (CSP), THANK YOU for your generosity and support of the Colorado State Patrol, as well as for your tournament participation - whether it be as a sponsor, a golfer, an auction donor/bidder or as a volunteer!
